Yet, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

The defendant was remanded in custody before a additional proceeding on late November.

'Sweet game'

The prosecutor, handling the case, outlined the criminal behavior to the court.

She said his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer camp which he managed.

The man played a "candy game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to consume candy "rapidly".

She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the children "for many years", and youngsters had previously become sick the subsequent day.

She stated the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had concerns in summer 2025.

The legal representative stated further: "This year his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, for good reason.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

The prosecutor said items including baby oil, ointment and syringes were located, and his stepson alerted the police about his suspicions.

She said Ruben continued to engage in the "treat game" with six children that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the subsequent day.

"The police had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.

The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the incident.

The prosecutor stated the youngsters were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson notified the authorities again.

She stated the defendant then engaged in the "candy game" in a area of five minors.
